Come away o human child! To the waters and the wild...
Hey there Water Witch!
I am Annwyn Avalon. I am a Water Priestess, oracle, Author, and witch. I hope you have found my website while looking for more information on water magic and witchcraft!
Let me start by telling you a bit more about myself! Since I was a young child, I have had a strong interest in fortune-telling, pre-cognitive dreaming, the ocean, swamps, and plants. I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian home where these beliefs and emphasis on strong women and female deities were thought to be the work of the Devil. When I escaped in my late teens, I began to study ritual, magic, art, belly dance, and the tarot. Over the next 15+ years, I would spend all of my time focusing on these topics and learning everything I could. I started with just a small pack of Tarot cards and a few dance classes under my belt but I soon found myself focusing on becoming a better dancer and then I found myself living in Japan dancing as a Professional bellydancer, It was there that I went from being a solitary witch and began to circle with my first group of witches and other magical people. After my return to the states, I became involved with an official tradition and was initiated as a Witch and Priestess after completing hefty requirements and becoming versed in the ways of ritual and magic.
My practice as a Water Witch began as a young child playing in the swamps, oceans, and clear springs in Florida. I had no idea of course at the time that this would inform my practice for years to come. It was on the shores of the sacred island of Okinawa where I connected with the Great Mother and Sea Spirits. Later when I moved to Arizona, water became a central focus of my practice as it was so scarce and precious in the hot dry desert. Here is where my water practice deepened and where I realized that there was so much work, both magical and mundane, to be done for our waters and planet.
I spent many years living in Oregon on my little homestead with a creek that ran through it. I lived there for 6 years until Water Spirits whisked me off to serve as a Water Prietess in The White Spring Temple in Glastonbury England. You can find out more about me by visiting my main website www.AnnwynAvalon.com
I love to teach! It is one of my passions. There is nothing like walking a new student through a magical act or a dance class and seeing them grow and blossom into their own powerful and unique creature. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and I have a passion for sharing about topics such as water, magic, and witchcraft.
Other important things you might want to know, I received my BFA in sculpture from NAU in 2005, BA in Anthropology from ASU 2018. My focus is on ethnobotany and the relationship humans have with water and sacred bodies of water. Because of my academic background, I find academic research and the study of folklore and mythology an essential part of my practice, and fusing history and folklore into modern magical practices is my main focus at the moment. I am the Priestess and founder of Triskele Rose, an Avalonian Mystery tradition located in Glastonbury, Arizona, and Oregon. You can visit the link below to find out more. We have a heavy emphasis on earth and water and their respective traditions. I am also the Author of Water Witchcraft: Magic and Lore from the Celtic Tradition, The Way of the Water Priestess: Entering the World of Water Magic and The Celtic Goddess Grimoire. I have also contributed to numerous publications a few include This Witch, Witchology, The Magical Times and more!
